Our latest player Q&A is the amazing Norah Eccleton who is eight and is from Florida in the United States.  Norah was recommended to us by coach Megan Johnston, who tells us Norah is such a bright and bubbly young girl who makes everyone smile! Norah is studious and always goes through her checklist.

We spoke to Norah to learn more about why she loves golf!  Check out her profile on Instagram here, her Instagram is run by Mum.

Tell us about yourself!
I have been golfing for just about a year and a half. I started golfing with the Girls Golf Program lead by Melissa Chivers.  I love all things rainbow and cute, playing my Nintendo switch, drawing, writing and reading in my spare time.  I love to dance and sing, and my favorite music to listen to is Country.  When I am not golfing, I enjoy spending time with my family and best friends Eva, Kinley and Harley.

What’s your first golfing memory?
My first golf memory was when I went to the Unicorn Clinic that Melissa Chivers was leading and loved it!  Seeing a bunch of girls all gathered around doing something fun and new excited me.  I was hooked!

Who is your coach and why do you like them?
Coach Melissa has been with me since the beginning and is always brings joy to the sport of golf.  Melissa has made golf fun and I have learned some lifelong skills.  Coach Kellie Edeblut has been patient and works hard to help me work on some of my golf skills each week at my lessons, she encourages me to always look at the bright side.  Kellie has been super, when it comes to challenging me to strive to do my best each time.  Finally, my coach Megan Johnston.  Megan has done a great job at helping me establish my golf shot routine and does a fantastic job of making me feel confident.  She does this all while guiding me to be the best I can be.

What’s the best thing about golf?
The best thing about golf is because you get to hit the ball with your driver, hanging out with friends and learning new skills.

Who is your golfing inspiration/favorite player?
My favorite player is Maria Fassi.  I met her last summer at my golf camp.  I was amazed at how powerful her swing was and how far she hit the ball.  My golf inspiration is her cousin Austin Eccleton.  I can always count on him to teach me new golf skills.  He always says, “100 swings a day,” that will make your game stronger.

What’s the best shot you’ve ever played?
I was playing the walking 9-hole course at the Omni at Champions Gate and I hit my driver and almost got it in the hole the first time!  I could not believe it.  Also, the time that I was chipping and the ball went in the hole the first time.

What’s in the bag?
In my golf bag are Callaway XJ’s.  I have a driver, hybrid, 7-iron, 9-iron, sand wedge and a putter.  I am always keeping my eye out to add to my collection.  I have a Mickey Mouse towel, Girls Golf customized driver and putter cover that are decorated with rainbows and unicorns.  I have a fluffy unicorn driver cover named Lucky as well.  I have my trusty golf glove with all the “secrets,” some pink golf balls, donut balls, a hat and several wooden tees.

What is the best part of your game?
I think my driving.  I love to hit bombs!

What areas are you working hard to develop?
I feel I need to work on putting on the green for more accuracy.

Have you been in any competitions and how did this feel?
I am going to be involved in the Drive, Chip and Putt challenge this weekend at Leadbetter Academy.  I have been in one other tournament with Girls Golf.  The tournament was superhero themed, and it was a blast.  I look forward to getting to know the game more to be able to compete more.

What positive impact does golf have on you as a family?
Golf is something that has been in the family from the get-go.  Norah’s dad grew up on the course and has played his whole life.  She has a big golf family at home in Michigan that support her and give her guidance. I on the other hand (Mum) – have never golfed before – but I have been known to hit a few balls and I find it extremely fun!

What are your golfing ambitions?
My ambitions are to one day be able to golf 18 holes and hit par.  To never lose my love of the game of golf.

If you could play any course in the world, where would it be?
I would love to play in Hawaii and be able to look out and see the ocean and all the big palm trees.

Who would be your dream Four-ball?
My dream four-ball would be, Tiger Woods, Jay Eccleton, and my Dad, John Eccleton. I think I would want to be paired up with Tiger Woods!
