Junior Golf Q&A – Mia Gregory

Our latest player Q&A is Mia Gregory from Wednesbury in the West Midlands.  Mia’s talent and work ethic is clear to see, judging by her practice videos on her Instagram profile, which you can see here .  This caught our attention at Noisy HQ and we just had to learn more!

We spoke with 9 year old Mia and her Dad, to learn about her love for golf, how her journey began and her golfing aspirations.

Tell us about yourself!
I am a 9 year old golf mad girl!  I am a member at both Great Barr Golf Club and Walsall Golf Club.  I am coached by the brilliant Tom Palmer.  My Dad is my caddy!  If I’m not on the golf course and not begging my mom for a dog… 🙂  You will find me practicing Tae Kwon Do and swimming.  I am a blue belt red tag so only three belts away from joining my mom as a black belt.  I started playing golf when I was 6 years old and have been hooked ever since.

What’s your first golfing memory?
My first golfing memory is at the driving range with my Dad, when I was 6 years old and practicing shots with my wedge.  I managed to hit a ball 10 yards carry over the stones.  I jumped for joy and my Dad managed to catch it all on camera.

What’s the best thing about golf?
The best thing about golf is, although it is a competitive game, it is also really fun.  You get to spend time outdoors and make friends.  I like that I can just go play a round of golf with my Dad and not have to be competitive about it.  We can just have a laugh together.

Who is your golfing inspiration/favourite player?
Georgia Hall.  She is a British Player who has won the Womens British Open.  I’d love to win that tournament one day!

What is the best part of your game?
My short game – I’m a demon with a wedge!  That maybe because it was my first club.  My Dad and I live by the saying drive for show, putt for dough!

What areas are you working hard to develop?
Club head speed with all clubs to gain distance.

What are your golfing ambitions?
This year I would like to achieve a teen handicap.

My long term goal is to become both an LET and LPGA Tour Professional.  I’d like to one day win the cow trophy (the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open)!  It is an amazing looking trophy!

If you could play any course in the world, where would it be?
Augusta with Tiger Woods!  The greens look absolutely incredible!

Who would be your dream Four-ball?
This is by far the hardest question….
Nelly Korda, Georgia Hall, Charlie Hull and me! My dad would be on the bag!

Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us, Mia!  We can’t wait to see your game develop in the coming years!  Keep having fun!  We’re sure, that with hard work and a bit of luck, the cow trophy will soon be part of your collection!
