Our latest player Q&A is the amazing Maren Richards, 9 from Florida in the United States.  Maren was recommended to us by coach Megan Johnston who tells us Maren is a superstar, works hard on her drills and has one of her favorite golf swings!

We spoke to Maren to learn more about why she loves golf!

Tell us about yourself!
I am 9 years old, and I live in Orlando, FL.

What’s your first golfing memory?
Going to the driving range with my family to hit balls!

Who is your coach and why do you like them?
Megan Johnston, she is very nice!

What’s the best thing about golf?
Being outside and learning lessons for life!

Who is your golfing inspiration/favorite player?
Tiger Woods & Lexi Thompson

What’s the best shot you’ve ever played?
I made a birdie putt on the last hole to win the Parent/Child tournament at Pinehurst during the week of the US Kids Golf World Championship!

What’s in the bag?
Ping PRODi G clubs, and Callaway Chrome Soft Triple Track LS golf ball.

What is the best part of your game?
Ball striking and putting.

What areas are you working hard to develop?
Short game.

You’ve been competing in competitions and will be playing again in July at the US Kids Golf World Championships, Pinehurst, NC in the Girls 9… How do you prepare yourself for competitions and how do you feel you grow the experience?
Work hard! I practice 5 days a week after school and compete in local/regional tournaments on the weekends. I like the saying, “if I don’t win, I learn.” There is always something you can learn from tournament play, whether it’s good or bad.

What positive impact does golf have on you as a family?
We get to be outside spending quality family time together and having fun!

What are your golfing ambitions?
To win more major championships than any other golfer!

If you could play any course in the world, where would it be?
St. Andrews

Who would be your dream Four-ball?
Tiger Woods, Lexi Thompson, & Nelly Korda
