Our latest junior golf Q&A is here and features our very first junior golfer from Norway!
We spoke with 12 year old Nora Sophie, and her mum, about her love of golf and her ambitions. Nora has been playing since she was a toddler and is a regular at Oslo Golf Club. We think she looks pretty great in our Hero shirt too!

Tell us about yourself and what interests you have besides golf?
I am 12 years old, I have no siblings but I have a dog named Freia (after the Norwegian milk chocolate). When I’m not playing golf, I like to relax, recharge for the next round of golf and be with friends.

How did you first get into golf and how old were you when you first started playing?
I got my first golf set from grandma and grandpa when I was 3 years old. We used to be on the range and eat lots of waffles. When I was 5 years old, I started junior training at Oslo Golf Club, and after that I have played golf as often as I can.

What’s your first golfing memory?
My first golf memory is all the waffles I ate and that I got a postcard, signed by Suzann Pettersen, from my coach after I had played a good round of golf when I was 5 years old.

Where do you currently play?
I am a member of Oslo Golf Club.

Tell us about the courses in Norway?
Here in Norway, many of the courses are in the forest. These are narrow and often a little heavy to walk, since it goes a lot up and down. We also have many park courses, with a lot of beautiful nature around. My favorite course in Norway is my home course, Oslo Golf Club. It has some long par 3 holes, water in play, some small greens and lots of nice nature around.

How does Nora’s golf positively impact on you as a family?
We get to be together a lot. We love to take the taco dinner with us on the course on Fridays and enjoy golf together.

What advise would you give to other parent’s whose children have shown an interest in golf?
Let them play as much as they want, do not limit them and help them seek the feeling of mastery.

What’s in the bag? Clubs, balls etc.
I have US Kids Tour Iron Clubs (PW-5), US Kids Tour Wedges (60, 52 and 54), SIM 5 wood, SIM 4 hybrid, Callaway Rogue Driver and Spider Putter. My shaft (driver and SIM clubs) is from Flynn Golf. I like the ProV1 and TP5 balls the best.

How often do you currently practice?
I practice 6-7 days a week. In the winter I practice 20-30 hours a week, and during April to September I train 30-50 hours a week.

What are the biggest strengths in your game?
I have good iron technique and hit a lot of draws, which means that I have a good length even though I am a bit lower than the others I play against. I also tend to be good from 50-100 meters to the green.

What areas of your game are you working hardest to develop?
Right now, I work a lot on my wedges. I also work on aiming more precisely hitting draws with the driver.

What’s the best shot you’ve ever hit?
I got HiO with my 5 iron a few years ago. So far, this is my best shot.

Proudest moment?
That must be when I got HiO. My parents say that what they are most proud of is that I set goals and always work hard to achieve these – without giving up. They say I’m a fighter.

What are your ambitions in golf?
I want to be the best in the world! I want to play on the LPGA and participate in the Solheim Cup a lot of times.

What’s the best thing about golf?
The joy of reaching goals you set and that you always develop.

Who is your dream Fourball?
Suzann Pettersen, Tiger Woods, DeChambeau and myself.

What course would you love to play most?
Bay Hill

Who would you most like to meet in the world of golf?
Tiger Woods, DeChambeau and McIlroy.

Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us.  We look forward to seeing your game develop in the coming years and hope to one day see you on the LPGA and Solheim Cup.
