We are delighted to have recently spoken with Addy.  Addy is a 14 year old junior golfer from Orlando, Florida.  Addy currently volunteers her time coaching junior golfers through the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf program.  We spoke with Addy to learn about her love of golf, coaching and practicing with some of the best female golfers in the world!

Tell us about yourself!
Hi everyone! I am Adalyn, Addy for short.  I am a Freshman in high school.  I am the youngest of 4 siblings and the only one that plays golf.  When I am not in school or on the golf course, I am painting or shopping.

What age did you start playing golf?
I started playing properly when I was around 6.  Until then it was just practice.

What is your first golfing memory?
Hitting balls with my Dad on the range when I was about 4 years old.  I would try to use his clubs (that were taller than me) and when I started making contact, that’s when I got my own pink set.

What do you like most about golf?
I love traveling and seeing different courses and cities.  There is something new to learn and see everywhere we go.

What is the best shot you’ve ever hit?
That is a hard one.  I’ve had some incredible shots out of bunkers.  I can remember one shot though that my Dad didn’t want me to take because it was through a narrow opening between two trees.  I executed it perfectly.

Who is your biggest golf influence? Who is your favourite female player? Why?
Morgan Pressel.  There is no better person on this planet to have as a role model.  She started supporting me at a very young age and has because such an amazing friend.  I could not imagine my life without her.  I hope one day to make as much of an impact on someone’s life as she has made on mine.

Who do you play golf with?
I play a lot with my high school golf team.  I am lucky to live in Central Florida as a lot of the tour players live here and I get to practice with them a lot.  I have grown up getting to practice with people like Lydia Ko, Amy Yang, Haeji Kang, etc.  I would say my golf “bestie” is Yu Liu.

What do you like about coaching junior golfers? Why do you think young golfers relate to you as a coach?
We just have so much fun together.  Because I am still young they see me more like the big sister and relate to what I am saying a lot better than the adults.

Do you think you will go on to coach/have your own golf school one day?
You never know!

Who is your biggest fan?
Well, my Mom would probably say it is her.  My Dad says it is him.  They are both wrong.  GRANDPA is by far my biggest fan on the planet.

Favourite shot to play?
Of course it is the tee shot!  Love just crushing my driver.

What areas of your game are you working on most?
The short game.  Putting and trouble shots are where most of my practice is.

If you could play any course in the world, where would it be?
That’s easy… AUGUSTA!  I have gotten to visit and it is just so beautiful.

What’s in the bag?
Callaway.  I’ve always been a Callaway girl because when I got my first set of “real” clubs, I wanted to play exactly what Morgan was playing and it has just stuck.

What advise would you give to girls who want to play golf?
DO IT!  Don’t let anyone make the choice for you.  Don’t let your peers tell you girls don’t play golf or that golf is an old man sport.  There are so many amazing opportunities that come from this game and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Thanks so much Addy, it’s wonderful for us to get to know you more, we’ll be watching your development with interest in the coming years.  Best wishes for your golf future and thank you for speaking with Noisy Golf!
